BE PART OF THE ACTION!
We’re looking for volunteers to be a part of the action for the incredible show Stunt Double. Volunteers will be given roles to fulfil, working as extras, gaffers, clappers, art department, and more; placing them up close and personal with the actors and their extraordinary stunt doubles.
Volunteer roles will last the whole performance – making it a truly unforgettable experience! Additionally, volunteers will be provided with a discount code to see another performance of Stunt Double and get a chance to see the show from the audience’s point of view.
People of all genders and ages over 18 are welcome to apply!
AUDIENCE PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
You’ll be on stage for the whole performance in front of a live audience! Expect to be standing for long periods. You may be asked to move around the stage (walking, jogging, crawling, getting up and down from the ground), or deliver some lines, or handle props, or wear costumes like fake moustaches, hats, and jackets. There will be a role for everyone!
Applicants will need to be comfortable with the following activities:
- Moving physically: walking, crawling, jogging, getting up and down from the ground, carrying light objects
- Standing for periods of time
- Wearing costumes over their clothing (fake moustaches, hats, jackets, etc)
- Handling props (clapper, boom microphone, umbrellas, etc)
- Being on stage in front of an audience
The Extras roles may be required to deliver a small amount of dialogue. The Film Crew roles are slightly more physical, standing for scenes and moving around the stage with props.
The Red Dress role requires female-identifying volunteers, and will contain a small amount of choreographed movement which will be taught at the pre-show induction.
Stunt Double is set on a film shoot in 1970’s Australia. Outfits from the era are highly encouraged! You will be able to wear your own clothes on stage. For those interested, there are also some roles that require costumes like fake moustaches, hats, and jackets. Volunteers must wear sensible, closed in shoes.
There are options for people who have limited mobility but important that volunteers understand it will be an active role.
Please be aware that you’ll be behind the scenes of a live theatre show. You may witness partial nudity, be in close proximity to simulated violence, be exposed to uncomfortable language, and have physical contact with others. Sounds fun right?! If not, and you are unsure if this experience is for you, please get in touch.
THE PROCESS
Complete the application form to sign up as a volunteer. Note the number of audience participants are limited in each performance, with a small degree of flexibility. You will be contacted in early February 2024 to confirm your participation.
We will send you further details once you are confirmed. You will also be sent a reminder and instructions closer to the performance dates, along with a discount code to see another performance as an audience member. Remember not to buy a ticket for the same night you are volunteering!
