It’s the hush that settles as the lights dim. The roar of applause when the curtain falls. A spirited discussion or rigorous debate in the foyer. It’s a room full of people, sharing the experience of what’s on stage.

We want to create more experiences that we can share with you. And you’re invited to be a part of the work that we’re creating.

We’re supporting the development of new performances here at home with New Works. This month, we’ve welcomed a team of Canberran artists into The Courtyard Studio to try out a new idea and see where it goes. Something we hope will one day be performed on our stages, for you.

And this is just the beginning. We have big ambitions for this program, and we plan to commission new work and find ways to support even more artists and share those results with you.

We need your help to do that.

This program has been made possible by a major donation. In August, we’ll be hosting a four-week residency. A group of performers will rehearse in The Courtyard Studio, culminating in a five-performance season that you’ll be able to come and see. This has also been made possible by a generous donor.

Please consider making a donation to New Works. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible (and it’s the time of year to be thinking about tax deductions). Your contribution, however big or small, will make a difference.

Your gift will buy time for artists to explore new ideas and you’ll be able to see that on stage. As the lights dim, you’ll hear that hush. And as the curtain falls, you’ll have made that roar of applause possible.
