The search is on once again for Australia’s funniest teens and I know you know exactly the student that I am talking about! The quick witted, observant, speak-before-I-filter kind of student who may moonlight as a class clown, but in fact could be Australia’s next comedic talent in the making.

Canberra Theatre Centre is partnering with Melbourne International Comedy Festival to present CLASS CLOWNS 2018.

This one-of-a-kind, national secondary school comedy competition encourages people from Years 9–12 to unleash their comedic voice either through stand up, sketch or musical comedy. The act can be in any format provided it’s between 3–5 minutes long.

If you know of any students who you think could be perfect we would love you to have a quiet word and encourage them to look into participating.
You may even have the latest Tripod or Doug Anthony Allstars waiting to burst forward.

The ACT State Final will be held at the Canberra Theatre Centre on Thursday 22 March 2018. In the afternoon, the students will attend a two-hour workshop from 2 to 4pm with a professional comedian providing one-one-one assistance to help students polish their act. They will then perform in a relaxed environment at 5pm in the Courtyard Studio – a performance opportunity that encourages the support of family, friends and teachers.

The young comedians will be assessed by a panel and the winning entrants will be flown to the National Grand Final in Melbourne, where they will perform and be in the running to win a $2,500 prize package.

Posters will be on their way in early 2018

Registration is free and more information can be found on the Comedy Festival website
