IMAGINE. EXPLORE. DISCOVER. LEARN.
Welcome to our final Discovery & Learning season brochure for 2019 and get ready to say goodbye!
2019 is set to cause a splash as we dive into an exciting year of rich experiences and new experiments, emerging with our grand transition to 2020!
With Canberra leading the way on renewable energy and sustainability, we have been thinking about our own impact on Canberra and the environment at large – so in 2020 we will be moving to a paperless program, delving deep into the digital and emerging with an amazing new web portal, packed with shows, web tours, online bookings, professional development and weblinks to the best companies, ideas, videos, resources and other amazing stimuli to liven up your lessons!
For those who love flicking through our pages – don’t despair! We will still have a brochure featuring all our exciting programming, it will just be on your desktop and not your desk! To get you prepared, we have refined our online booking system to get you to all your shows with ease and while you are online, navigate your way to our Learning tab and start to look around – if you have any suggestions on you want to see on the web portal we want to hear from you! Until then, enjoy flicking through your final program as you discover the great experiences on offer for your students in 2019.
For your little littles, check out Spot and Possum Magic, featuring a rich slate of indigenous resources to support their first foray into Australian theatre. For your spunky middle schoolers you cant go past David Walliams’ Billionare Boy and Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts and for your senior students, don’t miss the chance to immerse them for a whole day in our very first Masterclass for Hitler’s Daughter by award winning Australian author – Jackie French. Masterclass deepens the theatre experience for the students with seminars and workshops before and after the performance and includes professional learning hours for you too!
Speaking of Professional Learning – we are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Sydney Theatre Company this year, bringing the successful School Drama program into your classrooms once again, tackling student literacy using drama pedagogy, so don’t forget to register your interest. Check out School Drama and all the other professional learning opportunities on our Learning page online!
We can’t wait to welcome you and your students to Canberra Theatre Centre in 2019!
