Canberra Theatre Centre’s New Works and Sector Development Program supports artists and producers in the commissioning, creative development, and presentation of live performances.

The bold and compelling artistic voices of the performance makers of Australia’s capital deserve to be heard, to be nurtured, to be amplified, and to be respected as vibrant contributors to the national cultural conversation. The program activities connect artists who live in work in Canberra and the region to a national network of live performance makers through mentorship and collaborative opportunities.

This multi-year approach to the development of original, contemporary performance made by Canberra’s best professional performance-makers will also support artists who have a demonstrated and consistent connection to the Canberra community.

We want to explore new ideas, ignite new collaborations and partnerships, and to present these new performances in our venue.
