THE QUEEN OF PUNK CABARET RETURNS FOR AN INTIMATE SOLO PERFORMANCE SPANNING THE DRESDEN DOLLS, FAN FAVOURITES AND ALL NEW SONGS
Following a tumultuous period of change including the birth of her son, the tragic deaths of close friends, a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign and the release of her memoir The Art of Asking, Palmer’s provocative art is captivatingly earnest and subversive as ever. Reaffirming her title as the queen of punk cabaret, Palmer’s love affair with Australia continues as she takes the stage alone, journeying from musical beginnings and fan favourites though to the next surprising chapter;
‘It’s time: I am taking it back to basics,” Amanda Palmer says. “I am going on a short, super-stripped down tour with just me, a suitcase, a piano, a ukulele, and a baby. Just Me. Piano. Songs. Some old songs, some new songs, lots of feelings, lots of ridiculousness. Certainly wine. Babies and piano and wine actually go together phenomenally’, she says. ‘It’s time to get back on stage and remind myself and everybody else that without the music, there’s nothing. It drives me crazy when people have read my book 3 times cover to cover but don’t bother to look up the music of The Dresden Dolls or dig into my songwriting catalog. Time to fix that.
**** ‘In a music industry short of original thinkers, Amanda Palmer is the real deal’ – the Guardian
‘Palmer is outspoken, funny, sassy and a total charmer’ – triple j
