19–20 August

A resounding call that all at once shouts fiercely and whispers gently: what do we mean when we say “I am Woman”?

Mind. Body. Soul. This is an ode to what it means to embody the divine feminine in 2022; beyond gender, beyond shape, beyond socio-economic status, beyond race, beyond what society tells us it is. What it is to be a womxn, is to be power, gentle and strong, and to be the voice that calls for change. We are mothers. We are daughters. We are sisters. We are fathers. We are sons. We are brothers. We are PhD students. We are hood rats. We are home makers. We are professionals. We are polished. We are hot messes. We are cis-gender. We are trans. We are non-binary. We are students. We are teachers. We are lovers. We are leaders. We are warriors. We are nurturers. We are Aunties. We are childless. We are wives. Friends. CEO’s. Rule breakers. Sex workers. DV survivors. Surpassers. The voices of change; of reason. Fighters. Protectors. Victims. We are flawed. We are imperfect and all at once everything we need to be. We are who we are. We are you. And we are here. Join the Vaudevixens, the troupe of performers led by Charlie Wan, as they bring an eclectic mix of dance, burlesque, comedy, drag and clowning to the stage. Having sold out numerous stages across Canberra, I AM WXMXN marks a magical shift in their art as they prepare this profound dance theatre show to take on tour. Charlie Wan is a performer, producer, choreographer, activist and creator whose performing arts career spans 6 countries and over a decade. You have seen them take the stage and create with shows like SAD: a journey through the seasons of mental health, The Mama Complex Collective and the Monkey King Cabaret, all sold out shows created to begin a conversation. Their latest offering is no different.
