14–16 December 2023

Lucid Theatre Co’s debut production, People You May Know, is a passion-project from some of Canberra’s most promising young minds in theatre (if we do say so ourselves). The play explores the current and critical concerns of young people today – friendships, sex, and most importantly – the internet. Interweaving multiple story lines, you get the very best of your Netflix catalogue - think Notting Hill mixed with Knives Out and a healthy dose of My Neighbour Totoro. This story begins with a party (as most stories do at university). Throughout the night attempts are made to rekindle old friendships, get the latest gossip, and find a worthy hook-up. The group are faced with a devastating crisis the morning after: the internet has stopped. Like, for good. Without the crutch of the internet, truths are revealed and friendships are tested in all aspects in a way they have never experienced before. Shit well and truly hits the fan as they try to navigate the mayhem of reality - these kids have no idea what they’re doing!!!!. Combining sharp wit with surprising and heartfelt sincerity, join our beloved seven (and a half) characters as they dabble in detective cosplay, fall in love rom-com style, and learn to fly. This work is supported by Canberra Theatre Centre's Sector Development Program.

Lucid Theatre Co’s debut production, People You May Know, is a passion-project from some of Canberra’s most promising young minds in theatre (if we do say so ourselves). The play explores the current and critical concerns of young people today – friendships, sex, and most importantly – the internet. Interweaving multiple story lines, you get the very best of your Netflix catalogue – think Notting Hill mixed with Knives Out and a healthy dose of My Neighbour Totoro.

Shit well and truly hits the fan as they try to navigate the mayhem of reality – these kids have no idea what they’re doing!!!!.

Combining sharp wit with surprising and heartfelt sincerity, join our beloved seven (and a half) characters as they dabble in detective cosplay, fall in love rom-com style, and learn to fly.
