Pod People are pioneers of Australian doom metal, touring extensively and continually reinventing their sound since their inception in the early 90s. The band was at the forefront of a fledgling doom metal scene in Australia, releasing their debut album Doom Saloon with storied English label Rise Above Records in the early 2000s. After their second album Mons Animae Mortuorum, Pod People took an extended hiatus in 2011. Now back with a new line up welcoming Alchemist alumni Roy Torkington, Pod People are working on new material to for their next album, completing their trio of Divine-Comedy-inspired releases beginning with the Inferno and Purgatorio chapters on their first two records. Wretch was formed in 2011 in Canberra, Australia, from a common passion for grindcore, death metal, thrash and punk. With multiple national and international tours under their belt, notable highlights include sharing the stage with Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy, Aborted, The Black Dahlia Murder, Destroyer 666, Coroner, Brujeria, Venom Inc, Psycroptic, Thy Art is Murder, Sinister, King Parrot and Disentomb and playing the legendary Obscene Extreme festival in the Czech Republic. Lucifungus formed in 2018, releasing their debut album Akuma Kin in the same year. Winning over local and international crowds, Lucifungus played high profile shows and festivals alongside metal giants including Church of Misery throughout 2019. 2020 saw the band record and release their second album Derek to global success, but cancelled tours of Japan, New Zealand and France because of Covid-19 travel restrictions. For patrons’ safety, attendees will be required to provide their names and phone numbers for contact tracing, and the venue capacity will be strictly limited in line with current health restrictions. Tickets will be sold in sets of four, with each group seated at their own table.
