15–18 May 2019

For the first show in papermoon theatre’s relaunch, we have chosen to present the Canberra premiere of Alma de Groen’s Wicked Sisters. What will help you survive in life: competition or compassion? When four erstwhile friends meet after the death of one of their husbands, they uncover multiple betrayals during a night of wine, fast talking and hard truths. Alec Hobbes built a computer program to evolve artificial lifeforms and observe the strategies they invent to survive. A computer program can be rational and devoid of emotion – but can humanity? And if it can, is it worth it? Who wants to have it all, if you have no-one with whom to share it? Sparks fly as this fragmented sisterhood address these questions in Alma de Groen’s contemporary fable of disenchantment.

Directed by Tony Turner featuring Alice Ferguson Lainie Hart, Nikki-Lynne Hunter and Elaine Noon.
